SELTI Hungary recruits, and contracts
teachers to work in
the English teaching industry in Budapest, Hungary as part of the SELTI
Teach Abroad Program. We recruit teachers who are looking for 6 to 12
month teach-abroad experiences (extendable). Our teachers predominantly
teach English for adult learners, with approximately 20 hours of
contact teaching time per week.
We are looking for teachers who are interested in:
· The experience of teaching abroad in the heart of Central
Europe for short-to-medium term periods (we do not deal in long-term
placements of teachers)
· Pursuing teaching for the short-to-medium term
period
(teaching background/experience is an advantage, but not required)
· Working in a community of teachers from across
the world who are enjoying similar experiences at the same time
Applicants need to be native speakers of English, and have some higher
education experience.
At SELTI Hungary we require that all teachers have a TEFL (or
equivalent) qualification before you are selected for the Teach Abroad
Program and commence teaching with us. If you already have such a
qualification, be sure to include this in your CV/application. If you
do not currently hold such an application, we support applicants to get
an Online TEFL qualification. The initial investment is made by the
applicant, and then this is reimbursed as part of your first monthly
payment during your Teach Abroad Program. As of May 2008, this costs
approximately US$199.
Living in Budapest
Located in the heart of Eastern Europe, Budapest is a city which has won over many a traveler. With a completely unique culture and a long history of rich traditions, the city has something for everyone. Budapest has breathtaking architecture on offer in the Castle district, Heroes’ Square, Basilica and the stunning Parliament building. Relax at the magnificent Gellért Baths, the park at Margit Island or take a short trip out of the city to one of the many resort towns along Lake Balaton. Sample some of the local cuisine such as the famous Goulash soup, or a tasty Lángos. Or, try some of the traditional drink, Pálinka, head to a trendy ruin café or one of the popular outdoor clubs to experience the vibrant nightlife.
“One of the most exciting aspects of teaching in Budapest – one that I hadn’t anticipated – is that I get to learn almost as much as the students. In the conversations with my students I gain insight into their culture and I find that I am able to appreciate Budapest in a whole new way because of it.”
